Okinawa High School for Girls is a recruiting ground for the Top Squadron located in Okinawa, Japan. Students are trained to pilot RX-7 Machine Weapons. This was the school of Noriko Takaya and Kazumi Amano.
History[]
In 2021, Noriko Takaya enrolled in the Okinawa High School for Girls to follow her late father's footsteps in exploring the galaxy. Despite being in the school for less than six months, she was selected alongside senior student Kazumi Amano to represent Japan in the Exelion's maiden expedition.
In 2032, following the return of the Exelion, Takaya and Amano formally received their diplomas.
The Gunbuster's successful mission to detonate the decommissioned Exelion's Degeneracy Generator to wipe out the Space Monsters outside the Solar System caused a massive shockwave that destroyed three planets and altered the Earth's axis in 2033. In the midst of the chaos, a section of the school was destroyed by a tsunami that wiped out parts of Okinawa. By 2048, a new annex was built on higher ground next to the old facilities submerged underwater, with the original clock tower now sitting on the main building's roof.
